چکیده

Abstract Bone lacunae are cavities the morphology of which strongly affects damage propagation inside bone. Nevertheless, role eventual variations in their morphological features is not clear yet. In this scenario, work aims at isolating effects lacunar-like pores on mechanical response 3D printed samples. The research presents a detailed study processability those by means laser powder bed fusion process, carefully considers both drawbacks such as need heat treatment to minimize residual stresses, and limitation design constraints, presence metallic powders trapped closed cavities. identification optimized permitted X-ray diffractometer analysis examinations optical micro-CT investigations selected performed tensile test samples with progress preliminary static characterization. Future developments will investigate fracture modality, under fatigue loadings comprehend how different influence propagation.

Friction-corrosion of AISI 316L/bone cement and AISI 316L/PMMA contacts : ionic strength effect on tribological behaviour

Wear phenomena understanding of implants is a challenge: friction-corrosion of biomaterials, which constitute orthopaedic implants, is a significant issue concerning the aseptic loosening. This work aims at studying AISI 316L/bone cement friction which is a tribological problem related to hip joint cemented prostheses. This study focuses on the ionic strength effect on the tribological behaviou...

Corrosion and Hardness Behaviour of AISI 316L SS Implanted with Argon and Oxygen Ions Korózne a pevnostné vlastnosti AISI 316L SS pri implantácii iónmi argónu a kyslíka

Ion implantation creates alterations in surface properties of solids such as corrosion and hardness. The AISI316L stainless steel is being widely used both in artificial knee and hip joints in bio-medical applications. In the present study, the AISI316L SS was implanted with two different ions namely argon and oxygen separately at 100 KeV with a dose of 1x10ions/cm2 at the temperature of 32°C. ...

Sustainability Characterization for Additive Manufacturing

Additive manufacturing (AM) has the potential to create geometrically complex parts that require a high degree of customization, using less material and producing less waste. Recent studies have shown that AM can be an economically viable option for use by the industry, yet there are some inherent challenges associated with AM for wider acceptance. The lack of standards in AM impedes its use fo...

Determination of susceptibility to intergranular corrosion and electrochemical reactivation behaviour of AISI 316L type stainless steel

In this study, double loop electrochemical potentiokinetic reactivation (DLEPR) test was applied to determine the degree of sensitization in 316L type stainless steel, where obtained results were correlated with revealed microstructures after oxalic acid test and weight loss measurements of Streicher and Huey acid tests. Best agreement was provided with test parameters which are 1 M H2SO4 and 0...

Biomaterial Studies on AISI 316L Stainless Steel after Magnetoelectropolishing

The polarisation characteristics of the electropolishing process in a magnetic field (MEP – magnetoelectropolishing), in comparison with those obtained under standard/conventional process (EP) conditions, have been obtained. The occurrence of an EP plateau has been observed in view of the optimization of MEP process. Up-to-date stainless steel surface studies always indicated some amount of fre...
